Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MarriageWorks.TODAY Ltd collects, uses, and protects your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
MarriageWorks.TODAY Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We are a company registered in England and Wales, based in Coventry, UK. Our platform provides marriage enrichment resources, mentoring services, and relationship tools to couples and individuals.
As a data controller, we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in a transparent, fair, and lawful manner in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
If you have any questions or concerns about how we handle your personal data, please contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@marriageworks.today or write to us at MarriageWorks.TODAY Ltd, Coventry, England, United Kingdom.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect personal data that you provide directly to us, including: your name and email address when you create an account; payment information when you purchase a service (processed securely by our payment provider); profile information such as relationship status and anniversary date; responses to relationship assessments and checkups; and communications you send us via email or contact forms.
We also collect data automatically when you use our Platform, including: IP addresses; browser type and version; operating system; pages visited and time spent on the Platform; clickstream data; and device identifiers. This technical data is primarily collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies.
Where you use our mobile application, we may additionally collect device-specific information, push notification tokens (with your consent), and in-app usage patterns. We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as health data or religious beliefs) unless you voluntarily provide this information as part of a relationship assessment, in which case we process it under your explicit consent.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the personal data we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our Platform and services; to process your transactions and send related information such as purchase confirmations and invoices; to send administrative messages, including technical notices, security alerts, and support messages; and to respond to your comments, questions, and requests.
We also use your data to personalise your experience on the Platform; to send promotional and marketing communications where you have given us consent or where we have a legitimate interest in doing so; to monitor and analyse trends, usage, and activities in connection with our services; and to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities.
We will not sell your personal data to third parties. We will not use your data for purposes that are incompatible with those described in this Privacy Policy without first obtaining your consent or unless required to do so by law.
4. AI-Assisted Processing
Our Platform uses artificial intelligence to enhance the services we provide. When you complete relationship assessments such as the 12-Domain Marriage Checkup, your responses are processed by AI to generate personalised insights, recommendations, and progress reports. This processing is carried out to fulfil our contract with you and to deliver the tailored experience our services are designed to provide.
AI-generated content on the Platform is always clearly labelled. Your mentor is always a real person, never an AI. Automated messages such as reminders or progress nudges are marked as system messages. We do not use AI to make decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects concerning you without human oversight.
If you are on a paid mentoring tier, your mentor may also view your AI-generated insights and assessment results in order to provide more effective, personalised guidance during your sessions. Mentors are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use this information in the context of your mentoring relationship.
You can manage your AI personalisation preferences at any time in your account settings. If you choose to turn off AI personalisation, you will still have full access to all lessons, exercises, and resources, following the standard learning path. Your data will not be used for AI model training. For more information about our approach to AI, please visit our Responsible AI page.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. We rely on the following legal bases: (a) Contract: processing is necessary to perform a contract with you or to take steps at your request before entering a contract; (b) Legitimate Interests: processing is necessary for our legitimate interests, such as improving our services and communicating with users, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
(c) Consent: where you have given clear, informed consent for a specific processing activity, such as receiving marketing emails or having your data processed for personalised recommendations. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe links in our communications. (d) Legal Obligation: processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject, such as tax reporting requirements.
Where we rely on legitimate interests as our lawful basis, we carry out a balancing test to ensure our interests are not outweighed by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time.
6. Data Sharing
We may share your personal data with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing (Stripe), email delivery (e.g. SendGrid), cloud hosting (e.g. AWS or Vercel), customer support software, and analytics providers. These providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
We may also disclose your personal data where required by law, regulation, or court order; to enforce our Terms & Conditions; to protect the rights, property, or safety of MarriageWorks.TODAY Ltd, our users, or others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case you will be notified in advance).
We do not transfer your personal data outside of the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA) without ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). A list of our third-party processors is available on request.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. We will also retain and use your data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and for other legitimate business purposes.
When you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or audit purposes. Data held for compliance or legal purposes will be retained for no longer than 7 years from the date of collection, after which it will be securely deleted.
You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (subject to our legal obligations) by contacting us at dpo@marriageworks.today. We will respond to deletion requests within 30 days as required by UK GDPR.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at dpo@marriageworks.today. We will respond to all requests within one calendar month. If we are unable to fulfil your request, we will explain why. If you are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10. Security
We take the security of your personal data seriously and implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These measures include data encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, access controls and authentication requirements, regular security assessments, and staff training on data protection.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you suspect any unauthorised access to your account, please notify us immediately at security@marriageworks.today.
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the ICO in accordance with our obligations under UK GDPR, typically within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting a prominent notice on our Platform or by sending you an email to the address associated with your account, at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
The date at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
